Compliance and investor information

What every investor should know, and where to turn if something goes wrong.

KYC compliance advisory

All investors are requested to note that six KYC attributes are mandatory: name, PAN, address, mobile number, email ID and income range. Investors using custodian services must also update their custodian details.

Non-compliant trading accounts can be blocked for trading by the exchange, and non-compliant demat accounts can be frozen for debits. Once you submit the missing details and they are updated and approved, blocked trading accounts are unblocked by the exchange on T+1 trading day, and demat accounts are unfrozen after the depository participant captures the details.

To keep settlement smooth, make sure both your trading and demat accounts are KYC compliant. Contact us to update your details.

Margin pledge: what you need to know
  • Stock brokers can accept securities as margin from clients only by way of a pledge in the depository system, with effect from September 1, 2020.
  • Update your mobile number and email ID with your stock broker or depository participant. You will then receive an OTP directly from the depository to create a pledge.
  • Pay 20% upfront margin of the transaction value to trade in the cash market segment.
  • Refer to the exchange's FAQs issued vide circulars NSE/INSP/45191 (July 31, 2020) and NSE/INSP/45534 (August 31, 2020), and later guidelines.
  • Check your securities, mutual funds and bonds in the consolidated account statement issued by NSDL or CDSL every month.
Prevent unauthorised transactions

Update your mobile number with us. You will receive alerts for all debit and other important transactions in your demat account directly from CDSL or the exchanges on the same day. Issued in the interest of investors.

How to file a complaint on SEBI SCORES

Register on the SCORES portal. The mandatory details for filing a complaint are your name, PAN, address, mobile number and email ID. Benefits: effective communication and speedy redressal of grievances.

Please quote the complaint reference number when you raise a complaint on SEBI SCORES or an exchange portal.

Investor awareness: fraudulent investment tips

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. There are no shortcuts to creating wealth. Register your email and mobile number with your broker so you stay informed, and do not fall for SMS investment tips from unknown sources that promise huge profits.

If you have a complaint

  1. Email your complaint to Pinakini@gvk.com. You will get a ticket number to quote in all future conversations.
  2. Escalate to the Compliance Officer by emailing Pinakiniig@gvk.com if you are not satisfied. All investor grievances are monitored and redressed by the Compliance Officer, who reports directly to the Board.
  3. Automatic escalation: if the concerned department does not respond within 7 working days, the complaint goes to the Executive Director. We aim to resolve complaints within one month.
  4. Approach SEBI SCORES or the exchange if you are still not satisfied.
  5. Use the SMART ODR portal once you have exhausted all other options.
